Terms of use

Last updated: 11 August 2026

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the Cléo application for iOS (“the Application”) and of this website. Installing and using the Application means accepting these terms.

2. Description of the service

Cléo is an application for learning to read sheet music, published by Marc B., sole trader. The course has eight chapters and 37 lessons of about two minutes each, from the staff to key signatures. Exercises are answered by tapping the screen: the Application never listens and never asks for microphone access.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the Application. You may not resell it, decompile it, or extract its educational content for redistribution.

4. Free access and subscription

The entire course — all eight chapters, all 37 lessons and every exercise — is available for free. The subscription is optional and unlocks no content: it removes the ads and gives unlimited lives.

Subscriptions are billed and processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment, refund and billing terms are Apple's: see the Apple standard licence terms (EULA), which apply in addition to these. Prices shown inside the Application are authoritative and may vary by country.

5. Advertising

The free version shows ads in two forms: one after some completed lessons, and a video you may choose to watch to earn a life back. They are served by Google AdMob. Before the first ad, a GDPR-compliant consent screen asks for your choice; it can be changed at any time in the Application's settings. Details are in the privacy policy.

6. Technical requirements

The Application requires an iPhone running iOS 18.0 or later. It works without an account, without an instrument and without an internet connection for the learning part; a connection is needed to display ads and to validate a subscription with Apple.

7. Educational content and liability

Content is provided for educational purposes and “as is”. The Application is a learning aid for reading music: it does not replace structured teaching and guarantees no result or level of progress. We work to keep it running properly but cannot guarantee it is entirely free of defects. Our liability is limited to the amount you actually paid over the last twelve months.

Melodies used are exclusively in the public domain or original compositions by the publisher.

8. Intellectual property

Cléo, its code, design and educational content are the property of its publisher (see the legal notice). Apple, iPhone and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., with no link or affiliation to Cléo.

9. Personal data

See the privacy policy.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may change; the version in force is the one published on this site on the date you read it.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. As a consumer, you keep the benefit of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
